Track Overview
Thunder Road Speedway (formerly San Jose Speedway) is a beautifully sculpted HO racetrack, designed by Brad Bowman and owned by Ted Essy. Located in Loomis, the track features four lanes, a light gray painted surface, and variable power supply. The tracks design mimics many of the unique turns and combinations found on Brad’s world-famous Katz-Spa-Ring (KSR).
The track has an incredibly dynamic layout, with a considerable amount of elevation changes, off camber and cambered corners, as well as one of the longest straightaways in Northern California for an HO track.
Racing
Common classes include TFX and Fray style cars, as well as Tyco 440s and Viper/Viper Jet classes. One of the most interesting aspects of this track is the fully developed scenery, almost reminiscent of green Sonoma Raceway. Thunder Road Speedway is truly one of the HO racing gems in Northern California.
Racing typically occurs once a month, falling on a Saturday. We’ll have a schedule up soon to help you keep track of race dates.
